I don’t think that it would be fair to just describe myself, but more of the reason for the blog. NoblemanStands is my way of learning, encouraging and developing. Many people in this country (USA) have been raised by their mothers when their fathers were absent. If the father was not there because of work, divorce, death, war, etc., the void left in a child’s heart is hard to fill and masculinity can be distorted because of that absence. It can be filled with television, sports, dating the wrong people, sex, music, drugs, and even violence. But nothing can fill the void like the influence of a good father.
The blog is not just about giving you a bunch of quotes or inspiring you with music; it’s about integrity and it’s birth in you. It is about purpose and a life driven to achieve goals. It is about leading fatherless daughters and sons, encouraging their spiritual growth while instilling in them a sense of purpose…a purpose of life more than just living for themselves.
While it is not always true that “father knows best”, the qualities of a good father are this: bold, brave, courageous, gallant, honor, powerful, resolute, robust, stout-hearted, and vigorous. It is level-headed and does not hold grudges. It is mature but able to play games with children. It is able to lead but willing to follow. It can say no when necessary but says yes when appropriate. It seeks to improve self and encourage others but stands against irresponsible behavior even when it does not concern his own needs. It seeks knowledge and wisdom while discouraging ignorance. It gives without selfishness and takes only when it is just. They all are a father’s loving influence paraphrased from 1 Corinthians 13.
In short, I am a happily married father of 3 adopted boys. I was raised by my mother from the age of 6. The void that was left by the absence of my father has been hard to replace but I have found the heart of a father through much struggle and pain. My hope is to help others that have experienced this to recover and have a successful and productive life and think about the lives that they shape. I have practiced and I have learned and am still learning. One thing you will not see on here is “How to make money blogging”. There are plenty of blogs for that elsewhere.
Some material that I post will be relevant to your life; sometimes, a glimpse of my experience. Other times, a gap that gets filled. Either way, you may find something helpful one day and the next, something you already knew but need reinforced. We are all in need of counsel at one time or another.
